|
Thanks to the 2009 Digital Conversion Law
that affected the analog TV broadcast in the United States, many people are looking to find an
appropriate HDTV.
If you are looking for HDTV for a moderately sized
room or office, you should consider a 26” HDTV.
Below are a few tips that will help you to
understand some of the important technical features that you must look for when shopping for a 26”
HDTV.

Buying Considerations for a 26 Inch HDTV
Televisions that have a higher native resolution produce
better images. For example, a 26” TV with display of 1080p have the resolution of 1920x1080. You should never
go for a display of lower than 720p.

-
Contrast Ratio - The next thing you want watch for when buying a
26 inch HDTV is contrast ratio. The difference between white and black pixels, or the brightest image
to darkest, is known as contrast ratio. More contrast ratio will give you better image quality.
For example, a 26” LCD HDTV with display of 1080p and contrast
ratio of 10,000:1 will produce great picture quality. Many of the manufactures push their HDTVs with 10,000 or
15,000 ratios which are not actually contrast ratios but are dynamic contrast ratios, which is completely
different. Therefore, you should always consider the contrast ratio very carefully before selecting a 26 inch
TV.
-
Compatibility - Many people still watch lower quality types of
media that are not compatible with all 26” LCD HDTV sets. While most of the televisions can still
display images of standard definition from cable, satellite, DVDs and others, but the quality of the
picture is not great. Therefore, it is better to buy a 26” television which has the compatibility
built-in.
-
Video Processor - Another thing to look for in your television
purchase is the video processor. This is the brain of the TV, that processes all the information
gathered from high definition signals, and reproduces it on the display screen. A 26” LCD HDTV with
poor or cheap video processor will not produce best quality of images. Always inquire about the video
processor.
